Tinta nos Nervos is a space at Rua da Esperança, no 39, in Madragoa, Lisbon. It aims to be a home for the drawn image.

The Tinta nos Nervos team is made up of people with a variety of backgrounds in several areas of specialization, including, artistic curatorship, criticism, academic research, cultural and bookstore management. We have complementary interests and knowledge, which, coordinated, are the driving force of the project.

Multitasking as a bookstore, a gallery, a space of specialised information, showcase of projects, publishing platform of multiples and books, place for launches and thematic talks, meeting point and online space, Tinta nos Nervos is integrated in an ever-stronger network of specialised bookstores and galleries in the city of Lisbon, but also in other cities within the country and abroad. We aim to spark a dynamic through the crisscrossing of different audiences, genres and arts, in such a fashion that each artistic area reinforces the others.

Wholly rebuilt by architect CAL30, the whole environment of our space was idealized as a multidimensional, transdisciplinary project. Our communication design, developed by Playground Atelier, follows a strong, close dialogue with the project’s team, as well as grounded in our image symbol, created by artist André Ruivo.

This is a bookstore and a gallery dedicated to the drawing arts, encompassing illustration in all its facets, comics, multiple graphic arts, the arts of the book, and drawing itself as an autonomous artistic medium and practice.

Moreover, we also have a small, quiet, intimate café with terrace, perfect for a calm moment, a friendly talk or your reading time. WE do not serve food but the Flor da Selva coffee is unbeatable.
