SUSANA MARQUES

(Portuguese-  Lisboa, 1974)

Overview

Born in Lisbon in 1974, she lives and works presently in Montemor-o-Novo.

Graduating in painting at the Fine Arts Faculty of Lisbon, her main artistic medium is drawing in general, although she explores it through the most diverse materiais and supports: Indian ink is a major presence, but sometimes she resorts to digital animation, charcoal and graphite on paper.
More recently, she has explored tridimensionality through objects created with textile materials. She has been exhibiting regularly since 1996 and fequently works commissions on illustration and graphic design, mostly for theatre and other cultural events poster art. Between 2000 and 2007, she was a member of the Porojecto Ruínas creative team, a transdisciplinary group mixing theatre and visual arts. she is the creator of the Pictógrafos project, an art and research project under development since 2013, within which she has been devising an iconic system which communicates ideas and emotions, applicable in team-building processes that mostly involve children.
