Mondo, the third work by Erik Svetoft, is a "silent" art book that takes visual absurdity to a new level. Building on the narrative experiments started in Hakken, the author uses a "collage" structure to link short stories through a central character: a canine creature traveling through a surreal world where the organic and the mechanical merge. Inspired by both real locations in Sweden and the concept of "Mondo Cane" (a dog's life), Svetoft creates an atmosphere of absolute strangeness and meticulous detail. It is a suggestive visual puzzle that gets under the reader's skin, serving as a direct precursor to the work Domus and consolidating the author as a unique voice in contemporary illustration.
