Loïs is the protagonist of the historical comic series of the same name, created by the Franco-Belgian master Jacques Martin (author of Alix) in collaboration with the artist Olivier Pâques. Loïs is a young painter and draughtsman gifted with great talent. His adventures take place in the seventeenth century, specifically during the reign of Louis XIV, the "Sun King". Due to his artistic expertise, Loïs is often entrusted with official (or secret) missions for the Crown, sometimes acting as an "agent" who documents and observes important historical events.
