Cracking. Artwork 2013-21. Tommi Musturi.
In Portuguese, 132 pages. Paperback cover with flaps; color; 34 x 24 cm. Tinta nos Nervos/Chili con carne.
There is a space outside of space where all forms are formed. A kind of cosmic background radiation where all the figures, images, illustrations are prepared, which coalesce into some basic and recurring structures, patterns, chromatic signatures, which can then be recombined with greater or lesser harmony. The Finnish author Tommi Musturi has invented a unique method of punching this amorphous and ever-changing matter and harvests from it images that, although tranquil in two dimensions for an instant, produce the vibrant promise of metamorphosing at any moment.
A recognized artist of multiple and changing styles, this immense volume brings together unpublished and unpublished works of a very varied graphic nature by the author, produced since 2013. We will find here some paintings, posters, illustration, pixel art, and even sketches and other disparate objects. A true storm, which demonstrates above all an indomitable will to create images, subsuming all the circumstances of his "requests" to the only force that Musturi can follow.
The book also contains an essay by the author himself on contemporary artistic practices in frontiers that insist on being, and "liner notes" of all the works included.
This edition had an international simultaneous edition, with the Portuguese one being a collaboration between the publisher Chili Com Carne and Tinta nos Nervos, on the occasion of the exhibition that will be on display by Tommi Musturi between November 2021 and January 2022 in our gallery.
