Their relationship thus begins under the sign of writing and lasts until Chaissac's death. The correspondence between them has 448 letters and is a mine for the rereading of their works in the light of their passions, hatreds, hopes, their successes and failures. Gaston Chaissac's intensely colored gouaches reveal a unique colorist. The textured pastes of Dubuffet the excellence of the material. If the means differ, the spirit of experimentation that animates them is the same. This book gives an account of the artistic and literary complicity between the two.
