The Jim Cutlass comic series, created by Jean-Michel Charlier (screenplay) and Jean Giraud (drawing), is a Franco-Belgian western set during the American Civil War, following the eponymous young hero in a world of adventure and drama, mixing classic elements of the genre with a modern touch influenced by the cinema of John Ford and Sergio Leone, and is seen as a work where Giraud (Moebius) explored new visual frontiers, with a darker and more complex style than many other comics of the time.
